Activities in the Jura Lakes region
The Jura is the ultimate nature destination with its many water-based activities and sports, in particular on Lake Vouglans, its massifs and mountains, waterfalls and caves. Everything is done to ensure that travellers wishing to set out and explore the natural environment are able to do so. Sailors are welcomed with all the necessary amenities on Lake Vouglans while campers can take advantage of Surchauffant Campsite for a stay while they enjoy everything the Jura has to offer.

The Cascades du Hérisson waterfalls
Less than half an hour from Lake Vouglans, discover the magnificent Cascades du Hérisson waterfalls. Listed as a Grand site de France, they offer a stunning display all year round. Composed of 7 waterfalls, the site can only be discovered on foot by following a 7.4-kilometre round walk that takes about 3 hours. This walk is suitable for families, provided that they have appropriate footwear, and can also be enjoyed with your pets (kept on leash only).

Villages
All around Lake Vouglans, many towns and villages of character await visitors. Clairvaux-les-Lacs is well worth a visit especially thanks to its proximity to the Grand Lac de Clairvaux. With Lake Chalain, they form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Swimming and hiking are on the programme to get the most out of the area. History enthusiasts will enjoy Orgelet, a city of character that is home to many heritage treasures, including fortified churches, townhouses, the remains of a castle, a former convent, and more. Equally stunning is the charming village of Arinthod home to many stone archways, a fountain dating from 1750 and a chapel. In the surrounding area, sites of interest await visitors, such as the mysterious Enon stone. Finally, Moirans-en-Montagne, recognised as the toy capital, is home to a dedicated museum which young and old alike will be delighted to visit!

The Toy Museum
Less than 30 minutes from Lake Vouglans, discover the capital of toys: Moirans-en-Montagne. A local speciality since the Middle Ages, wooden toys from the Jura are known all over France. And for good reason, with emblematic companies such as Vilac and Smoby having set up shop there. So much so that the Maison du Jouet was opened in 1989 and later became a museum in the 2000s. A fun place for young and old alike that regularly hosts thematic exhibitions.
